Five Man Buffs

Okay so lately I've had the biggest pet peve ever that's really annoying me. People who complain about buffs in a five man.

To clarify, I do buff. I throw a Mark on my Druid and all the priesty buffs lately on my priest.

I do not even glance so much at any of the other buffs that I am given or whatever. I mean yeah I like fort if there's a priest and I'm tanking but for the most part, it's a five man. If you can't do it without buffs x, y and z, then you can't do it period in my opinion.

So I don't understand why people sit there and whine to high heaven about how they want wisdom instead of kings from the said paladin. Last night there was some mage that complained incessently about not having wisdom on top of his kings and that there were two paladins and by god he should have wisdom *and* kings. Then he refused to give our paladin tank any water because he did not get wisdom immediately. Eventually we were all annoyed by his complaining and vote-kicked him from the group.

Am I just too lax? I mean if I *get* a buff from a pug at all I consider it a plus. In raids yeah I might ask for this instead of that because it's a raid but for a five man? What do you ladies think?

Dungeon finder problems

Hello, just wondering if anyone can help with a problem we're having with the dungeon finder.

Me and my boyfriend are levelling alts via RaF + random dungeon finder. We just did 2-3 SM GY's in a row. I dinged 33 at the end of the last one, he is 31. Now for some reason we can't queue for random dungeons any more. Whenever I try to queue, it says that one or more party members do not meet the requirements. What gives? On the specific dungeons page I can see that we're both still within the level requirements for several dungeons, including SM-Gy, SM-Library, and Gnomeregan. When I tried queueing using the specific dungeon finder it worked and we got into a SM-Gy group. So why can't I use the random dungeon finder? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

The Curious Case of the Priest Who Wouldn't Heal

Here is another Random PuG story with a "what should I have done?" at the end.

So, I'm a lvl 72 shadow priest and I'm pugging Sethhek Halls because there is an off-hand in there that I want. We are doing OK with a warrior tank who is charging ahead of the thirsty clothies, including the healer, but oh well, they do that, not gonna bust a Q key over it.

Well, heals ditches the pug right in the middle of a very hot fight. Not disco, not AFK--left party. Asshat. Whatever. Mass Dispel Q. Anyway, by some miracle involving Psychic Scream and mah leetle frend, the shadowfiend, I survive, along with one other person. Rez happens, the tank puts us back in the queue for heals, then he turns around and asks me to heal in the interim.

Whut?

I'm all purple and translucent and shadowy. I am not the healer you are looking for. I have, in fact, taken all the heals off my keybinds because I take the Facemelt Your Way To Health approach to questing and I've not been asked to heal since Zul'Farrak. I tell them this and they ask me so swap out my bar with a heals bar.

Whut?

Now, I recently put Prayer of Mending into a convenient place because I can put that on before a fight and let it activate on its own, but I have to search for the Renew and forget the rest. I can vaguely identify the heals icons because they are the red and gold ones without the skulls, but I would have to tool-tip them all to find out what they do, any I can't exactly do that and try and keep a tank alive. I don't even use my heals on myself because if I get to the point that I need to use them, I'm going to die anyway. They are small and slow and I'm better off popping a pot or going bubble-and-bandage. They ask me to heal and I tell them no. In fact, there was one point towards the end that I was accidentally rather rude about it, so I'm glad that person was from another server.

But my question is, should I have been expected to heal at all? I don't have a problem helping out the main healer if they ask me too, but does asking me to be The Healer even make sense? I'm particularly wondering if Balance druids and Elemental shamans get asked to heal in situations like that. I'm not selfish or a prima donna. I'm willing to reacquaint myself with my heal icons a bit if that is a reasonable expectation, but healing knocks me out of shadow form which makes me a lot more vulnerable to damage and it costs mana to get back into it. I could stay out of shadow, but even then, from my perspective, they haven't gained a healer, they've lost a DPS.

My priestly contribution to team health is Vampiric Embrace and the fact that up to 50% of my damage is going out as HOT (which causes real challenges when it comes to aggro management because I'm generating more threat that my Recount score would suggest, but that's a different Help Me post.) The fine folks at shadowpriest.com would probably tell me to hold fast to my Facemelter identity, but I'd like a more diverse opinion in this case.

EDIT: Just to reiterate, we were in no immediate danger at the point I was asked to heal. They just wanted me to heal rather than wait for another healer out of the queue. Also, in my own defense, I am new to the game, this is my very first toon, and yes I do plan to learn my class but I can't learn it all at once. Right now I'm still trying to work OMG Flail and Button Mash out of my spell rotation. I'm getting to be a decent shadow priest, I've got plans to learn Disc. I'm just new to the game altogether and am trying to figure out what is expected of me as a shadow priest. Now that I know better, I will be reorganizing my bars (again!) and trying to grow a third eye so I can watch my cast bars, Omen, and other people's health bars all at the same time.

EDIT 2: I would never, ever, EVER enter a queue as heals.

Sha'tari Skyguard rep, I gots it!

Yay! A couple friends and I started grinding rep a few days ago, and we blew through it soo fast. Much easier than the solo grinding I did for Kurenai. One beat us to it yesterday, but a friend and I got it today, we were very very happy.

SS, or it didn't happen! )

Just wanted to say YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! I love these mounts very, very much.

Cenarion Circle Ladies!

<input ... ><input ... >

So recently upon Cenarion Circle (Rp realm), there was the discussion of Wow Ladies in the alliance out of character channel.A lot of amusement was had about the fact some of us discovered we were on LJ and a part of the Wow ladies forums. So I was thinking of maybe getting a weekly rotation of events, be they raid, adventure planning, or even Role playing as we're want to do there. With the idea behind it that those of us wandering here can actually meet up in Wow as well. :) If your interested feel free to toss me a note here or even on Wow itself. Current Main is Cerdiwyn though I peak in and out on others still. :)  Lots of love to all you Wow ladies <3   Cerdiwyn/Resine/Lati<input ... ><input ... >

OMG!

TLDR: I am clueless but lucky and ultimately very happy!

Yesterday I was going to get the 6 emblems I still needed for my new gloves and call it a day. I took a random dungeon and ended up in Heroic Pit of Saron.

The rest of the group wanted to clear the entire instance, which I thought unusual, usually anything that can be skipped will be. After a few pulls I gleaned they were after an item that drops on trash mobs and they really wanted it! I thought it was something like Trophy of the Crusader, I was not sure I wanted that because I wanted my gloves and getting such an item would mean I'd have to save up my emblems!

About halfway through the item actually dropped! It was the Battered Hilt. "This item begins a quest", said the tooltip. "Everyone roll need" was the order and so I did. I won the roll! There were groans and gratzes and I politely said "cool" in party chat ;p. I linked it in guild chat with a questionmark and there was a lot of excitement.

Hmm.

We finished the instance and I started the quest. What followed was one of the most awesome epic questlines I have ever done. I did it all in one day, I just couldn't stop. And while I was reading up on the quests it dawned on me what had happened. O.M.G. I eventually logged out with a brand new Cudgel of Furious Justice. And gloves. Woot!

Faction Change!

My brother has *finally* agreed to hop on Alliance on Frostmane! Yay I can play with him now he's in college :D

I know everything transfers over (bank stuff, items, mounts and pets) but what about rep? Does it just go to the equivalent faction? Does he start our neutral with Alliance?

Thank you ladies<3

(WoW) Tanking : The Return to Utgarde Keep

So ya, I'm dragging Fastus out of the Alt-dungeon and dusting him off.

Ran my first UK as a Tank a couple days ago, and yesterday I decided to give it another shot.
Picked up a couple pieces of gear off the auction house, respecced (again), spent about an hour banging my head against the Prot Pally Guide on Elitest Jerks tryign to figure out the Abilities to use and such.
And generally wiped ALL of my button bars and started over.

Biggest headache noticed w/ the Prot Pally guide?
One, its broken up into mulitple sections vs just being replies 1-4 on the one topic.
Two: its written for the Level 80 Pally. So everything is dependant on you having all the skills/abilities you have at level 80.

Fastus being Level 70.. doesn't quite fit this model.

Be that as it may..  I jumped into the LFG and promptly got a group going to UK.

I felt I did the right thing, let em know i was a total NOOB and that this would be my 2nd ever attempt at tanking.. and promptly got told to STFU and go /AFK.. so ya.  not so much fun for my 2nd attempt either.

I ditched group and went to watch Season One of Dr. Who for a while instead while I waited for the LFG cooldown to drop off.

Speaking of which, Season One, is Totally Fucking WICKED, How the Fuck did I not make time to watch this?

Anyway.  Some time later.. Back into LFG.  And I promptly get another group. For UK. Again.  And then I go into the spiel.

Noob Tank, 2nd time Tanking EVER, can you deal w/ it. Low and behold they could! yay! We're going in!
Made it past the first, second AND Third Pulls w/o anyone dying! Basically this group went WAY smoother.
Respeccing probably helped a TON. gear maybe a little.  Party where they weren't trying to pull aggro even better :D
I Still had some problems here and there, three members bit it on the first boss (caster & warrior combo), 1 wipe on the final boss,as I didn't get out of the way of a cleave attack or something. And Broke LOS apparently.

All in all, much better! I'm still tense as hell going in and doing all of it.. but maybe once I get a few more under my belt I'll learn to relax a bit. By the way, if anyone has feedback on Spec/Gear/spell rotation whatever.. please do give me some pointers

(anyone know why LJ is totally ignoring formatting and making a wall-of-text of any post? this is the 3rd post I've made that got completely reformatted after I hit save..)

Raid Question =D

So my 80 blood elf hunter is finally geared with her teir 9 set thanks to the new dungeon finder and heaps of badges =) now I'm going to start trying to get in on raids but honestly I am still a bit of a newbie player and I am not sure what raids I should be getting into. I've done half of Naxx 10 but thats pretty much it and I want to find raids that drop newer better gear =) I'm not a "serious player" but I like playing with groups and I've worked hard to get the gear I have now. My gear score is just over 2200 (as I am still missing my head, chest and shoulder enchants that I need). But I hit pretty hard and my dps is decent. Any suggestions? =D Also is the best way to get in on raid just to spam the hell out of chat? Because the fact that I havent done any of the raids yet makes people say no to me =/ And I won't lie and say that I know all the fights only to look stupid later.

I am unable to link my armory url right now but the character is Kaedence on Daggerspine server =D Thank you in advance!

PUG Kicking

So...my boyfriend last night (after I went to bed) was the victim of getting kicked from the group for needing on something someone else wanted. I told him he should have petitioned a GM (in the hopes that either the other person would get the loot removed, or he'd get it, or both). Has anyone tried this after getting kicked and had any luck?

Personally, I feel like you shouldn't be able to kick a group member mid-boss or mid-loot. But there might be legit times you'd need to. :-\ So I don't know what a solution could be....

Edit: Per someone's suggestion, I posted in the WoW suggestions forum. If you agree this is an issue, please post your support in the thread! http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=22048896458&postId=220461523479

What makes your guilds successful?

So I was away from WoW for a while this year (a good 8-9 months or so), just got back on in the last month. Before I left, I was in this really great guild, it was all sorts of fun. A total blast to be a part of. Well since I rejoined the game, I rejoined the guild, and it's not as enjoyable as it used to be. I don't agree with how things are handled, I don't really know anybody anymore (which I realize is expected upon coming back to something when you've been gone for that long), the events and everything are disorganized, communication is terrible, and apparently all of the higher ups think I have a huge attitude problem, which is making it even less enjoyable (seriously, accusing me of taking over an event when all I did was advertise it? Really? Really?).

ANYWAY! This post wasn't intended for guild drama.
Basically, I think I'm going to stick through it until after the holidays, and then focus on my own guild (or say screwit and roll a gnome, since those seem to be the most fun to RP regardless of guild nonsense, though I'm not sure how keen on rejoining the Alliance I am..), which I have one created on an alt, but the bit of advertising I've done has pretty much gotten ignored... I don't know if I'm going to continue on with that one and try to make it work, or go in a whole different direction and create something else that might be more enjoyable.

My questions to the masses are as follows (mostly directed at those with RP-centered guilds of the not-so-serious kind):

~ What is it about your guild that makes it enjoyable for you?
~ What methods of advertising a new guild seem to work the best?
~ In terms of guild-hosted events, what are your favorite kinds to attend?
~ To those who are in a guild that they really like for the most part, if there was anything you could change about your guild to make it even more enjoyable to be a part of (in terms of management, plot, events, etc., nothing like upping your rank or increasing your bank allotment :p), what would it be?
~ Any other tips to help make a guild successful?

Thanks in advance, I look forward to reading everyone's input!

Edit: Thanks so much to everyone who responded! I think I know what kind of guild I'm going to go for now. ^^

True Confessions

Guys, I have a confession to make.

I've never run a Northrend instance.

I just don't really do instances while I'm leveling. So now that I'm at 80 and I want better gear, I have no idea where to start. So I've come to the WoW Ladies for help. (Thanks for sharing in my Cenarion War Hippogryph glee a couple of days ago, BTW!) I'm going to give you the link to my armory. Obviously I don't want to take up anyone's precious time by asking for a blow-by-blow account of everything I should do to get some better equipment, but really what I want to know is: which dungeons should I, and can I feasibly, be running? I'm not really sure what "level" the gear I have puts me at, so that would be a big help.

Also, as you can see, I'm currently leveling Leatherworking. Is that going to make me any equipment that's actually worth having?

I'm a feral druid who prefers DPSing as a cat, if that helps. I think I might redo my talents, too, because I suspect they suck.

Anyway, thanks in advance, and if pretty much everything about her sucks, please be gentle. :) But I can take the truth!

Mood Foodz

Anyone else think the mood buff from mood food should persist through death and think these should be trade-able cross-server? XD My friend made like 300 cuppycakes for a skillup in cooking and was like "derr what should I do with these?!" and thought about trading them to people in bg's at random until I pointed out he couldn't trade cross server. My cuppycakes!

Looking For Guild :)

Hi ladies,
I recently transferred to the Nagrand US realm for a fresh start. I'm a bit lonely on this server as I don't know anybody at the moment.

I've been playing WoW for far too long, 4.5 years to be exact. I used to raid with a top 20 US guild in vanilla, although my hardcore raid days are through. I've been playing a priest/experimented with other healing classes for this time period. I'm looking for a casual guild where I can make friends. If there are raids I'd be up for them too if I have the time (some nights I work late).

My armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nagrand&n=Lunabean
My main spec is PVE Holy. I enjoy grinding pointless achievements (currently Insane in the Membrane), fishing and occasionally PVP :)
Edit: I am also on the Alliance side.

Potions or Elixers?

Finally got off my butt and am leveling herb/alchy insteasd of letting it sit at 200 like it has for the last three months (God, I'm bad!).

I just hit 325 and I need to decide on a spec. I am thinking potions, because, with the improved effect that Alchemists get, I am going to be using half as many elixers.

At the same time, though, I understand that elixers use some of the more annoying mats to find and so I may be better off increasing my proc rate on those just to make it easier on me.

Either way, I am wondering...
